Srishti Layankari is a dance drama project that parallels the law of conservation of energy with the story of Shakti, in the form of the Hindu goddess Tripura Sundari and her tremendous powers to create and destroy. Drawing from the imaginative vocabularies and delicate nuances of classical South Indian dance forms Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, the work creates a vast canvas soaked in religious fervor—to transform and transfer spiritual energy—an experience for the senses.
Funded in part by the D.C. Commission on the Arts & Humanities, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Spilling Ink received a Dance Place Space Grant in support of the creation of Alekhya: Spilling Ink and its performances.
